Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position works 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM shift, working 6 days on, 2 days off
Requirements include:
• Perform certified nurses aide duties as assigned
• Ensure that all needs (medical, health, safety, social, etc.) of clients are met.
• Perform the essential functions of the Residential Companion.
• Coordinate with Director, Community Homes; Senior Supervisor, Community Homes; Program Specialist; and/or Community Homes Nurse to provide house orientation and on-the-job training for new hires.
• Responsible for staff scheduling, including, but not limited to, work assignments/ rotations, staff training, staff vacations, overtime assignments, and back-up for absent staff.
• Ensure appropriate coverage in the event of a staff vacancy by either assigning qualified staff or, if applicable, must be able to perform essential functions of staff positions.
• Administer medications to clients upon successful completion of medication training and annual medication practicums thereafter.
• Perform first aid and CPR as certified.
• Evaluate information to determine compliance and comply with standards; 6400 regulations; Agency policies, procedures, and rules; and all other applicable regulations.
• Oversee client health appointments, annually and as needed, for medical, dental, vision, auditory, psychiatric care, etc., to ensure compliance with licensing regulations.
• Monitor and evaluate expenses of the assigned Community Home to ensure the program is run efficiently as well as economically. Review the budget and maintain line items within budgetary allocations from general ledger.
• Monitor and address compliance with standards by performing random, unannounced Community Home visits outside of routinely scheduled working hours in coordination with the Director, Community Homes and/or Senior Supervisor, Community Homes.
• Review, address discrepancies, and sign Medication Administration Records monthly.
• Hold staff accountable by implementing disciplinary action, including suspension, when warranted.
• Report to work if an emergency situation should arise, if required by the Director, Community Homes and/or Senior Supervisor, Community Homes.
• Represent and promote Lifesteps at community functions, fairs, events, etc.
• Schedule and conduct staff meetings at least every other month.
• Comply with confidentiality policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, the Health Insurance and Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
 Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Certificate and a minimum of six months of experience as a Residential Aide in Lifesteps' Community Homes Program or other appropriate residential program
 one year of experience in a Human Services Agency working with the mentally or physically disabled, the elderly, or children and youth
 two years of college which includes courses appropriate to the Human Services field.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess a valid driver's license which legally permits operating a motor vehicle in Pennsylvania.
• Successfully obtain Medication Administration Certification within three months of hire.
• Obtain certification in First Aid/CPR within six months of hire.
• Drive a vehicle without accidents or violations.
• Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 200 pounds with assistance.
• Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Respond calmly in emergency situations.
• Tolerate a high volume of noise from multiple sources (talking, crying, yelling, etc.).
• Work with aggressive, violent, and diverse behaviors.
